Sabi Sands (South Africa) – January 2017

With the likes of Singita, Londolozi and Ulusaba lodges, the Sabi Sands is undoubtedly the premier wildlife viewing destination in South Africa. This exclusive private reserve has become the blueprint for sustainable wildlife tourism in Africa. With a 50km unfenced boundary with the Kruger National Park, this is prime “Big 5” country, where Africa’s megafauna abound. The Sabi Sand is the most reliable reserve in Africa to view Leopard and superb sightings of these normally elusive cats can be expected. In the past few years the endangered African Wild Dog has denned in the Western Sector of the Sabi Sand, allowing sightings of these highly sought after carnivores. Many of the lodges are run by third and fourth generation families who are passionate about sharing the wonders of the bush with children (but if you prefer child free lodges there are plenty of options). Between the Bellingham Safaris team, we have lived and worked in the Sabi Sand for over 13 years (before moving to Cape Town) – this includes time at Singita, Londolozi and Ulusaba, giving us an excellent knowledge of the area. This is one of the most popular reserves among our guests and we have extensive experience in matching our client’s to the lodge that is perfect for them.

WHY WE LOVE THE SABI SAND
Outstanding wildlife including good numbers of the “Big Five.”
Excellent Leopard sightings – the best in Africa.
Superb lodges – you are truly spoiled for choice.
Unfenced with the vast Kruger National Park.
Sensitive off-road driving for up close encounters.
Being a private reserve means night drives and walking safaris are possible.
Exclusivity with a maximum of 3 vehicles in a sighting, but more often you will be on your own.
Some of the most experienced safari guides and trackers in the industry.

Please feel free to contact us should you wish to travel to Masoala and Madagascar.

FEATURED LODGES

LONDOLOZI TREE CAMP - Bellingham Safaris

LONDOLOZI TREE CAMP

Nestled in a spectacular Leadwood tree canopy, this lodge is the epitome of stylish bush luxury. Sipping a good South African wine whilst watching a passing herd of Elephant in the riverbed below camp is the definition of natural luxury. But what makes Londolozi stand out is an understanding that life’s joys come from relationships and that the most valuable things in life can not be bought.

SINGITA BOULDERS LODGE - Bellingham Safaris

SINGITA BOULDERS LODGE

This intimate lodge is deeply connected to nature, set among the boulders on the Sand River. The lodge designers have taken their inspiration from the surrounding bush. A curated collection of skulls, fossils and crystals celebrates the primal beauty of the surrounds. This soulful, sensual lodge gives a full immersion into the raw beauty of the surrounds.

ULUSABA CLIFF LODGE - Bellingham Safaris

ULUSABA CLIFF LODGE

Richard Branson’s private digs in the African bush. This decadent lodge, set on a koppie (rocky hill) has superb sweeping views of the bush below. In 2016 Ulusaba was voted as the top safari camp in Africa by Conde Naste travellers. Booked on an exclusive basis this is perfect for a family reunion.
