Most of the planet’s great rivers find their end in the oceans. The Okavango or “river that never finds the sea” is different; filtered by endless reed beds, its crystal clear waters spill onto the dry Kalahari sands of central Botswana creating a checkerboard of waterways and island savannahs brimming with life.

Derek and Beverly Joubert’s dramatic “Eternal Enemies” which narrates the troubled relationship between Lion and Hyena was filmed in this area and guests may well bear witness to encounters between these everlasting enemies. This is one of the most reliable reserves in Africa for Wild Dog.

An incredible 30,000 Elephant thrive here and you can be assured of numerous incredible encounters with these magnificent giants. During the dry season a cross section of mammals come to quench their thirst in the cool waters of the picturesque Chobe River.

WHEN TO VISIT BOTSWANA
Botswana is a year round travel destination. Game viewing is most productive in the dry season of June to October, but it does get hot towards October. February to April is the best time to witness the incredible zebra and wildebeest migration in the Kalahari.
The Okavango Delta has quite distinct dry and wet periods, as well as a varying seasonal flood that is dependent on the rains in Angola. This brings a wide variety of landscapes and terrain, and with it, wildlife sightings and experiences, making this an exceptional year-round destination.

Seasonal floods begin to fill the Delta as the weather turns cooler and drier. Mokoro activities begin, depending on the level of the flood.

Cold mornings and nights, with lovely daytime temps. Great conditions for morning walks and mokoros, and watching wildlife at the waterholes.

With higher temps and less water, comes more concentrated wildlife at waterholes. October is exceptionally hot. The rains begin in November, bringing cooling temperatures.
