The Kalahari is one of Africa’s last great wildernesses and this extremely beautiful landscape holds an amazing diversity of wildlife. Tswalu Kalahari Reserve is South Africa’s largest private game reserve protecting over 100,000 hectares of this iconic wilderness! What sets Tswalu aside from other reserves are the opportunities for sightings of some of Africa’s most seldom encountered wildlife. Pangolin and Aardvark are two extraordinary mammals seen here more frequently than anywhere else. Another of Tswalu’s rare mammal attractions are the endearing Meerkats, which can be viewed at close range, thrilling visitors with their enchanting antics.

WHY WE LOVE TSWALU KALAHARI
Conservation is the number one priority with a vision to “restore the Kalahari to itself”.
Emphasis on privacy and exclusivity.
Sensational Meerkat encounters.
Excellent predators including Lion, Cheetah, Leopard, Caracal, Wild Dog and Brown Hyaena.
Combines well with the Sabi Sand and Cape Town.

A style has evolved in Southern Africa of safari chic, which involves a fusion of African artefacts and art with very contemporary furniture. Nowhere I have seen does it as well as Tswalu.

OUR FAVORITE TIME TO VISIT TSWALU KALAHARI

The Tswalu Kalahari Reserve is spectacular any time of year, but undoubtedly our favorite time to visit is the winter (June to August) when sighting of Aardwolf, Aardvark and Pangolin increase. The clear evenings result in a sky powdered with stars. The days are pleasantly warm and at night you can get cozy around an open fireplace.

Part of the Tswalu mission is to involve the whole family in the conservation vision. The malaria-free reserve, open environment, central children’s area and children’s activities make Tswalu the ideal family retreat.
